For days before, the weather was looking unfriendly (and actually was) but when the morning of Eric and Lauren’s session came around, the skies were grey but held back. Which made us all super happy because shooting in the rain is not much fun (but still very much a reality in this climate!).
When Lauren and I were first talking about ideas for their engagement session, she suggested going to Softball City since they are both big baseball fans and both play on a team. And I thought to myself Heck, why not go big? Let’s see if we can get Nat Baily Stadium all to ourselves? And that is what we did.
I grew up near Nat Bailey and still live close by, but I had never set foot inside until our session. And I must say it was super fun to have the whole place to ourselves and it certainly makes for some impressive wide angle shots. I also appreciated that Eric and Lauren chose something that they love to do together, it just makes it all so much more personal and shows a bit more of who they are and what they’re all about. After hanging out at the stadium for a bunch, we headed to Spanish Banks for some shots on the beach. The wind was picking up and I had made a comment about a blanket to which Lauren replied they had one in the trunk of the car. They grabbed it, wrapped themselves up for a bit and I got one of my most favourite shots of the day ~ the cityline snuggle. Sometimes the best props are the ones that are just lying around. And of course, we got lots of shots of the two of them with their pup, Kali. And again, some more that are some of my favourites. Who doesn’t love the pink little puppy tongue?
It began to drizzle just as we were wrapping up and then pour as I drove home. It was all pretty much perfect and I am so excited with what we got! A big thank you to JC Fraser of the Vancouver Canadians for helping us out!
Enjoy!
