Heather & Justin :: Westwood Plateau Wedding

Heather and Justin have been in front of my camera a number of times now - the first being my 2nd Annual Valentine’s Day Giveaway. They got engaged that fall and I was thrilled when Heather sent me the news. Fast forward to their summer wedding day that was hot and full of fun. We started off with the getting ready in Port Moody and then going a short distance towards the inlet for the First Look. After Justin realized he could turn around when Heather was tapping him on the shoulder, they had a few sweet moments to themselves before we jaunted off to the Shoreline Trail, which has some really neat elevated boardwalks over the mud flats. We did our best to stay in the shade - it was super hot out and really exposed in the park outside of the trails.

We went to our second photo location, which was en route to the Westwood Plateau for the ceremony and reception. Here, we had a bit more time to relax in the shade and the boys treated us all with Freezies! So, of course we had to use those as props for a few fun candid shots. And then there was the leaf pile. There were a few guys who were  doing some clean-up work in the courtyard and we had asked if Heather could jump in the pile for a few fun “fall” photos since she really wanted a fall wedding. They obliged and Heather tossed handfuls of crunchy leaves into the air. Even though it was sweltering, I almost feel like it’s a nice fall day looking at those images!

The ceremony was a lovely outdoor affair and the reception was upstairs in the ballroom. We managed to get a few photos of the couple on the fairway (being a Friday, it was quiet golf-wise) before being taken back to the reception in time for the formal wedding party entrance. You might all be wondering about the wedding favour - a can of soup? Well, it’s Justin’s last name and it was a cute and humorous addition to the table decor. There were dances, speeches, games, and cake cutting along with many smiles and much laughter. As the sun set over Mt. Baker, which the Westwood affords a stunning view of, my second shooter Sherry Lu and I said our good-bye’s and left the happy group to party well into the night.

A big congratulations to Heather and Justin and also a thank you for having me come and photograph your beautiful wedding. It’s been an honor to know you both for a while now and I hope you enjoy viewing a small sampling of your photographs!
