I loved this wedding. When I first laid eyes on Karen in her vintage dress with her topknot bun and accents of red lipstick and nails, I swooned. She was absolutely stunning and Mike looked pretty dapper himself in a grey suit. These two just oozed grace, elegance and class the entire day.
The nuptials took place at the Brix Restaurant in Gastown, a wonderfully intimate venue with a covered courtyard and attached restaurant. We didn’t have to travel far for some stellar portraits - a few blocks along Homer St. to the False Creek waterfront were all we needed for some impressive urban backdrops for Karen and Mike. And that little red brick nook was one of my most favourite finds of the day. We had enough time for a leisurely stroll down the street, although I could have easily photographed these two all. day. long. Spending time with just the bride and groom is probably one of my most favourite parts of the day - it gives us all a chance to take a breath!
From the succulent potted plants, the elegant table settings, the wedding cake made by Mike’s Mom and Karen’s special paper bouquet that was handmade by a friend and lovingly transported all the way from Belgium - the details were carefully thought through and meaningful. The evening was full of laughter, excellent food and drink and topped off with an entertaining traditional Filipino money dance, which was a first for me.
A big thank you to Karen and Mike - for having me there to document your day!
