Candice + Paul // Whytecliff Park // Vancouver Elopement Photographer

This little wedding all began with a note on the Canadian Women’s Photography forum on Facebook.

“Is there anyone here that could help out a friend of mine who is getting married in Vancouver, BC?”

The question was from Nova Markina, a London, Ontario wedding photographer and I replied immediately, “I think I might be able to help.”

And so began a wonderful journey with Candice and Paul, who traveled all the way from London, Ontario to get married on the West Coast simply because it was a dream of theirs. Their plan was to elope at Whytecliff Park with only a few close friends present to witness followed by a fantastic meal at Hawksworth at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia. Sounds like all the elements of a perfect intimate wedding getaway to me.

I was already at Whytecliff Park when Paul arrived with a few friends and we awaited the girls’ arrival. The weather was remarkably pleasant - just a light breeze and unseasonably warm with overcast skies. An excellent cocktail for an oceanside wedding. They had decided to say their vows on the cliffs overlooking Bowen Island while everyone looked on. It was absolutely adorable how Candice kept sneaking looks at Paul and clearly the two were so excited to be there in that moment. I loved Candice’s rustic and loose bouquet from the Granville Island Florist, the simple flower crown that her sisters had made for her and the sequined white slinky dress which was so much fun! Paired with ankle-top heeled boots, Candice made the quintessential boho bride with easy style.

After the vows were made, we walked up to the picnic bench at the look out to sign the wedding papers. Once all the formalities were complete, we went to explore a bit. From forest with fern undergrowth to ocean scenes, I made sure to cover a little bit of everything in the short time we had together. And I don’t think I could ever tire of a beautiful portrait with Whtye Islet Park as the backdrop. It’s one of my favourite places around here.

Congratulations you two! It was such a pleasure to be a small part on your West Coast journey! If you are looking for a Vancouver elopement photographer, I have special rates for shorter events. Send an email to [email protected] with some details about your fabulous ideas!
